Abstract
This research aims to understand how the context of time deixis is contained in CNN articles about mental health and how those context builds the overall mental health issue in the article. The object of research in this study is the narrative of articles about mental health published on the CNN online news platform in October 2023, which consist of seven articles. This research uses descriptive qualitative method, an approach that emphasizes descriptive analysis rather than statistical analysis. The theory used in this research is Yule (1996) temporal deictic theory to find out what time deictic expressions are found in the article. Based on the results of the analysis, the researcher found 55 temporal deictic expressions in the seven articles and grouped them into five points based on the appropriate context. They are; showing experiences, informing news or current situations, showing events, showing plans or advice from experts, and showing the period or span time. These contexts can build mental health issues as a whole, including by providing up-to-date information regarding the mental condition of people around, the experiences of those who experience several symptoms that interfere mental health, then prevention and management plans that need to be prepared if someone experiences problems with their mental condition in the future.
