Abstract
This research aims to reveal the meaning of emojis in the Miss International comment section. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive approach that focuses at different objects against a natural background in a seek to comprehend or interpret different phenomena. The researcher analyzed it by using cyberpragmatic theory based on Francisco Yus. This research aims to describe 1). The meaning of emoji conveyed in context, and what emoji are most often used in Miss International's Instagram comments 2). Analyzing emoji differences between positive and negative emoji usage on Miss International's Instagram comments. The researcher found that the flag emoji was the most frequently used. In contrast, the least used emoji is (✊). Analysis of 87 comments showed that 20 of them contained negative elements, while 67 were positive. This research highlights the significant interaction between context and emoji meaning, indicating that emoji interpretations are heavily influenced by the context in which they are used. The presence of both positive and negative comments reflects the diverse nature of audience responses to the event, displaying a range of perspectives. This diversity is significant as it underscores the multi faced nature of digital communication and the importance of understanding context in interpreting emoji.
