Abstract

Some of the problems that students face in junior high school include: first, students do not understand the phrases in writing, making it difficult for them to read, such as words and terms that are difficult to understand; second, students lack motivation in literacy; and third, teachers teach them using traditional methods to facilitate reading. This research focuses on describing and analyzing the significance of Quizziz to assess the students’ reading comprehension ability in narrative text. This study aims to answer the following questions what is students' reading ability in narrative text before using Quizizz as learning media what are students' reading ability in narrative text after using Quizizz as learning media how effective is the using of Quizizz to assess students’ reading ability in the narrative text to be able to answer the question above, this study uses a quantitative pre-experimental research method. This study was designed to know the effectiveness of the Quizziz as a learning media in improving students’ reading ability by employing a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. The pre-experimental approach was employed to assess the impact of researchers' intervention on a specific group. This design includes a pretest measure, treatment administration, and a posttest for a single group. The result of the data analysis determined that the use of Quizziz to improve students’ reading skills in the ninth grade was beneficial and effective. The students' reading abilities were poor before receiving treatment with the Quizziz. It might be determined from the average of students' pre-test results. The mean impact of the pre-test is 50.80. The students' reading skills improved after receiving treatment with the quiz. The mean post-test scores of students demonstrated this. The mean post-test score is 86.00. The results revealed that treatment with the Quizziz increased their reading abilities. In summary, this study emphasizes the educational benefits of using Quizizz assessments to enhance students' learning when reviewing their assignments. The author suggests that researchers interested in studying Quizizz should prioritize examining its advantages.
