Abstract

This study uses an objective approach with a comparative method, analyzing the English Tom Tit Tot and the German Rumpelstilzchen using an objective approach and comparative method, where the data are analyzed by a descriptive qualitative approach and uses structural analysis theory. It explores similarities and differences in character traits and plot structures. Both stories feature protagonists facing daunting challenges, spinning yarn in Tom Tit Tot and turning straw into gold in Rumpelstilzchen. The protagonists, the girl, and the miller's daughter, each possess traits of obedience, hopelessness, and bravery but differ in aspects such as greed and persistent. The antagonists in both stories use magic to achieve their goals, although they differ in traits such as selfishness and arrogance. The plots involve magical assistance in exchange for promises and culminate in the protagonist resolution of the challenges, leading to their resolution. The study highlights thematic and structural parallels while noting significant differences in the characters motivations and responses.
