Abstract

An Undergraduate Thesis, English Literature, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, Sunan Gunung Djati State Islamic University BandungThis research looks at the fantasy elements in Neil Gaiman's novel The Ocean at the End of the Lane. It focuses on how the fantasy formula is used in the novel and the roles of magical creatures in the story. By examining how characters develop and how magical and real elements mix, the study shows how Gaiman creates an engaging story. This research highlights the importance of character in fantasy works, showing how it expands the reader's imagination and blends fantasy with reality. The findings aim to help readers better understand the fantasy genre and its impact on modern literature. This study can also be a useful reference for future research on fantasy stories in books.
