Abstract

In this modern age, social phenomenan inevitably happen all the time. The phenomenon are talked mostly by large community of people. One of the phenomenan which is been old but has been being talked by people is hallyu wave, or it is known by the phenomenon of kpop and kdrama. In this case, even in Indonesia has a lot of kpop fans who create the community in every region, including in Bandung. Every community certainly has their own language or words which only the members understand. Even some words might use the words from another language like English and Korean itself. In this case, the use of the English words becomes the focus of this research and its use in the community should be known. This research discusses two problems 1. The word classes of each English words and 2. The use in the sentence. The theory used in this research is the theory of grammar by Finegan (2011). This research used qualitative method and the technique is document review where the researcher only needed to view the presented documents. The data of this research were taken from three group chat in app ‘Line’: ARBAN (ARMY, BTS fans, in Bandung), Reveluv Bandung (Red Velvet fans in Bandung) and E.L.F Bandung (SUJU fans in Bandung) with additional books are the traveling guide book ‘Jalan-Jalan KPop’ and biography book ‘Everlasting Story of SUJU’. The research analyzes each word in English which were used by the members of community and identifies its use in the sentence. Thus, the researcher finds out the result that from 8 kinds of word classes only 4 of them used and its use in the sentence are not only as subject, predicate, object or complement but also as adverbial, modifier and interjection. From that result, it can be concluded that the English words which were used as the data has been classified into 4 word classes with additional function in the sentence as adverbial, modifier and interjection.
