Abstract

This research analyzes the metaphor of love that becomes a metaphor in the ten lyrics of an English-language song by Air Supply in the album Ultimate (2003). This research uses the theory of George Lakoff and Johnson about metaphors in literary works. Researchers found data about the metaphor of love from the lyrics of the song that contains the figurative languages into a meaning metaphor of love such as kissing, embracing, sacrifice, affection, and erotic. Data metaphor of love obtained by researchers from books related to figurative language and metaphor of love. Descriptive method is a method used by researchers to find the results of research. The data collected in this study is obtained from the lyrics of the song in the album Ultimate (2003) by Air Supply which shows the words love as a metaphor. Based on the explanation of the metaphor of love that became the words of love as a representation of life. In Air Supply's song lyrics, the words of love as a metaphor found in 18 titles of Air Supply's song on the Ultimate (2003) album are like a loving metaphor of love when accompanied by a loved one in the song "Making Love out of nothing at all ". In this study, researchers found a metaphor of love contained in the lyrics of a song by Air Supply in the album Ultimate. The metaphor of Love that is present is a form of real life representation which is illustrated in the lyrics of the song Air Supply which dikiaskan in the language as a message of love such as love, kissing, hugging, sacrifice, thinking of the idol of the heart.
