Abstract

Salah satu daerah yang menjadi sumber galian pasir kuarsa terdapat di daerah Cibadak kabupaten Sukabumi-Jawa Barat. Kandungan silika dalam pasir kuarsa di daerah tersebut cukup tinggi sekitar 80-82%. Sumber silika tersebut digunakan dalam pembuatan SiO2 amorf. Penelitian ini dilakukan di laboratorium kimia Balai Besar Keramik. Metode yang digunakan yaitu destruksi sintering, dengan mencampurkan pasir kuarsa, Na2CO3 teknis, larutan CMC teknis dan di kalsinasi pada suhu 800-850°C yang selanjutnya ditambahkan H2SO4 15%. SiO2 hasil destruksi sintering dikarakterisasi dengan; 1) XRF, 2)FTIR dan 3) XRD. Hasil karakterisasi menunjukan, 1) BB 82,6%, HP87,37%, SiO2 (K 1) 88,09%, dan SiO2 (K 2) 91,31%, 2) terdapat tiga gugus fungsi penyusun SiO2 yaitu silanol (Si−OH), siloksi (Si−O-), dan siloksan (Si−O−Si), dan 3) SiO2 (A 1), SiO2 (A 2) berfasa amorf, dan SiO2 (K 1), SiO2 (K 2) berfasa kristalin. One of the areas that are the source of quartz sand is found in the Cibadak area of Sukabumi regency-West Java. The silica content in quartz sand in the area is quite high around 80-82%. The silica source is used in the preparation of amorphous SiO2. The research was conducted in the chemistry laboratory of Balai Besar Keramik. The method used is sintering destruction, by mixing quartz sand, Na2CO3 technical, technical CMC solution and calcined at 800-850 ° C and 15% H2SO4 added. SiO2 sintering destruction results are characterized by; 1) XRF, 2) FTIR and 3) XRD. The characterization results show that 1) BB 82,6%, HP87,37%, SiO2 (K 1) 88,09%, and SiO2 (K 2) 91,31%, 2) there are three SiO2 constituent functional groups that are silanol (Si -OH), siloxy (Si-O-), and siloxane (Si-O-Si), and 3) SiO2 (A 1), SiO2 (A 2) are amorphous, and SiO2 (K 1), SiO2 (K 2 ) is crystalline.
