Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement in students' communication skills in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) in grade IV-B of MIS Al-Misbah after the implementation of the sociodrama model. The study used a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research instrument was a communication skills test administered before (pretest) and after (posttest) the treatment. Data collection techniques included observation, oral tests, and documentation. Quantitative data analysis techniques were used to analyze the results using data normality and homogeneity tests. The pretest results showed a lowest score of 40, a highest score of 70, and an average of 53.08, which is considered good. After implementing the sociodrama model, posttest scores increased, with a lowest score of 70, a highest score of 90, and an average of 79.23, which is considered good. The Shapiro-Wilk normality test indicated that the pretest and posttest data were not normally distributed. A Wilcoxon test was then conducted, yielding a significance value of <0.001, meaning less than 0.05, indicating a significant difference between communication skills before and after the treatment. This means that the communication skills of fourth-grade students in science after using the sociodrama model were better than before. This improvement is influenced by the characteristics of the sociodrama model, which actively engages students through role-playing, group discussions, and reflection on cultural values, thereby honing speaking and listening skills and building self-confidence. Therefore, the sociodrama learning model can be an effective alternative learning strategy for improving students' communication
