Abstract

ENGLISH: The application of language, especially English, is applied in various purposes such as mass media. In this modern era, mass media can be in print or digital form; like newspapers that can be accessed using the internet. News has many different language characteristics that are not common in everyday life. The most common terms found in sentences are in the form of compound words. Compound words are formed from a combination of two or more words as a single meaning. This research aims to analyze the morphological process of compound words and find the classification of compound words in news that is trending in the world. Which was published in Medical News Today.The analysis in this study uses Plag theory (2002) to analyze the morphological process of compound words. Researchers used qualitative methods. The data in this study is in the form of written text in the form of compound words found in news about coronavirus in Medical News Today. Researchers found 15 data that were classified as endocentric compounds and 11 data that were classified as exocentric compounds. n. Meanwhile, the researcher found two processes they were compounding and affixation. Therefore, it can be concluded that the process of compounding is the most common process. INDONESIA: Penerapan bahasa khususnya bahasa Inggris diterapkan dalam berbagai tujuan seperti sebagai media massa. Di era modern ini, media massa bisa dalam bentuk cetak maupun digital; seperti surat kabar yang dapat diakses melalui internet. Berita mempunyai banyak ciri kebahasaan yang berbeda-beda yang tidak lazim dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Istilah yang paling umum ditemukan dalam kalimat berbentuk kata majemuk. Kata majemuk terbentuk dari gabungan dua kata atau lebih sebagai satu makna. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis proses morfologi kata majemuk dan menemukan klasifikasi kata majemuk dalam berita yang sedang trending di dunia. Yang dimuat di Medical News Today. Analisis dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teori Plag (2002) untuk menganalisis proses morfologi kata majemuk. Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa teks tertulis berbentuk kata majemuk yang terdapat pada berita tentang virus corona di Medical News Today. Peneliti menemukan 15 data yang tergolong senyawa endosentrik dan 11 data yang tergolong senyawa eksosentris. Sementara itu, peneliti menemukan dua proses yaitu pemajemukan dan afiksasi. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa proses penggabungan adalah yang paling banyak proses umum.
