This thesis investigates the effect of matching students' learning styles with learning activities on vocabulary acquisition in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learning. The background of this study is the importance of considering individual learning styles in the learning process, supported by the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesia. The research questions are: (1) Does matched produce higher vocabulary outcomes than mismatched in a one-shot classroom implementation? and (2) Do students experience vocabulary learning activities that are appropriate or inappropriate to their learning styles? This study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data from a one-shot case study design and qualitative data from semi-structured interviews with six seventh-grade students. Participants were selected based on their preferences for visual and kinesthetic learning styles. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and case study analysis. The findings reveal that matching learning styles with learning activities positively affects vocabulary acquisition. Visual learners achieved better results with visual activities, while kinesthetic learners benefited from hands-on practice. However, students could still adapt to activities that did not match their learning styles, albeit with less optimal outcomes. Interviews indicated that students felt more comfortable and motivated when learning activities aligned with their learning styles. This thesis recommends that teachers identify students' learning styles and design vocabulary instruction to accommodate visual and kinesthetic learners. Teachers should also provide opportunities for students to use new vocabulary in sentences and dialogues. Future research could explore more extended implementation periods and include other modalities such as auditory or reading/writing learning styles.
