Abstract
Each student interprets information in different ways. In order to make the student learn better, the teacher plays a role to modify their teaching methods according to student’s preference. When students are interested to learn the subject, this can avoid certain problems such as lack of motivation, disinterest of students in particular subject, and examination phobia among students. Based on that problem, this research is intended to investigate student’s Multiple Intelligence to find their learning style. The purposes of the research are to determine kinds of Multiple Intelligence among freshmen English Education students and to analyze learning style based on their Multiple Intelligence. This aim also can help teachers and students to seek out Multiple Intelligence and Learning Style. To find out the data, questionnaire, interview, and observation are employed to the B class of 1st level English Education Department UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. Then, the data that have been gathered are analyzed qualitatively. The findings of student’s multiple intelligence are: 75.33% for intrapersonal intelligence; 74.04% for interpersonal intelligence; 70.08% for musical intelligence; 70.05% for verbal intelligence; 66.5% for bodily intelligence; 65.48% for logical mathematical intelligence; and 63.8% for visual-spatial intelligence. Most of students have intrapersonal intelligence it means the data shows high category. Kinds of learning style based on their Multiple Intelligence are: solitary learning style, social learning style, verbal learning style, aural learning style and kinesthetic learning style. Considering the findings, it is suggested that the lecturer shall understand students’ learning style, awareness about students’ multiple intelligence and learning style could serve as a substantial supportive device in the learning environment, curriculum, and assessment evaluation tool in teaching, which are the main elements of education. In addition lecturers can help students to achieve goals in learning English that suitable with their multiple intelligence and learning style.
