Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the important competencies that need to be developed in biology learning on the subject of biodiversity. This study aims to determine the effect of the MEA learning model on students' critical thinking skills on the subject of biodiversity. The research method used is a quasi-experiment. The research subjects consisted of 85 students from classes X-4 and X-11, which were divided into an experimental class and a control class. The results showed that the implementation rate in the experimental class was 99%, while that in the control class was 98%, both of which were in the “very good” category. The results of the effect on learning obtained an average experimental value of 85% in the “very high” category, while the control class was 78% in the “high” category. The obstacles found in this study were 9%. Thus, the MEA learning model has a significant effect on students'critical thinking skills in biodiversity material.
