Abstract

BAHASA INDONESIA : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan adversity quotient dan selfefficacy terhadap kemampuan Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) peserta didik kelas VIII SMP serta pengaruh keduanya secara simultan terhadap HOTS. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode asosiatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas VIII SMP yang berjumlah 411 peserta didik. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 100 peserta didik yang dipilih menggunakan teknik cluster sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa angket adversity quotient, angket self-efficacy, dan tes HOTS. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif, uji korelasi Pearson, dan analisis regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan HOTS peserta didik berada pada kategori sedang dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 64,24. Terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara adversity quotient dan HOTS dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,619 yang termasuk kategori kuat. Selain itu, terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara self-efficacy dan HOTS dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,405 yang termasuk kategori sedang. Secara simultan, adversity quotient dan self-efficacy berpengaruh signifikan terhadap HOTS dengan nilai koefisien determinasi (R²) sebesar 0,508, yang menunjukkan bahwa 50,8% variasi HOTS peserta didik dapat dijelaskan oleh kedua variabel tersebut. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa adversity quotient dan self-efficacy memiliki peran penting dalam mendukung pengembangan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi peserta didik. Oleh karena itu, penguatan aspek psikologis peserta didik perlu diintegrasikan dalam strategi pembelajaran guna meningkatkan kemampuan HOTS. ENGLISH : This study aims to examine the relationship between adversity quotient and self-efficacy and students’ Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) as well as the simultaneous effect of both variables on HOTS among eighth-grade junior high school students. This research employed a quantitative approach using an associative method. The population consisted of all eighth-grade students, totaling 411 students. The sample comprised 100 students selected through cluster sampling. The research instruments included an adversity quotient questionnaire, a self-efficacy questionnaire, and a HOTS test. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that students’ HOTS were in the moderate category with a mean score of 64.24. There was a positive and significant correlation between adversity quotient and HOTS with a correlation coefficient of 0.619, categorized as strong. Additionally, there was a positive and significant correlation between self-efficacy and HOTS with a correlation coefficient of 0.405, categorized as moderate. Simultaneously, adversity quotient and self-efficacy had a significant effect on HOTS with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.508, indicating that 50.8% of the variance in HOTS could be explained by both variables. It can be concluded that adversity quotient and self-efficacy play important roles in supporting the development of students’ higher-order thinking skills. Therefore, strengthening psychological aspects should be integrated into instructional strategies to enhance students’ HOTS.
