INDONESIA: Britpop menjadi salah satu genre yang banyak orang dengan kekhasannya sebagai budaya Britania, banyak orang yang meyukai jenis musik satu ini dan menciptakan seuah skena musik. Pada akhir-akhir ini muncul sebuah fenomena polisi skena yang cukup menggemparkan skena musik di Kota Bandung. Penelitian ini berfokus untuk mengulik bagaimana identitas dapat terbentuk serta melihat bagaiman polisi skena dipandang oleh pemuda skena britpop dan mengisi celah pada penelitian sebelumnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengalaman pendengar musik bergenre britpop dapat membentuk identitas sosial pemuda skena britpop di Kota Bandung. Selain itu penilitian ini nenganalisis polisi skena dipandang sebagai praktik gatekeeping pada komunitas britpop yang ada di Kota Bandung. Kerangka berpikir ini menjelaskan anggapan dari kemunculan dari polisi skena dalam komunitas britpop yang diawali dari pembentukan identitas melalui habitus dan modal yang berkaitan dengan bripop. Komunitas britpop sebagai ranah sosial tempat berlangsungnya interaksi dapat memperlihatkan dinamika tersebut. Kemunculan polisi skena sebagai aktor yang menjalankan fungsi kontrol sosial dengan menilai, mengklasifikasikan, serta menentukan siapa yang dianggap autentik dan siapa yang dilabeli sebagai poser sehingga berperan sebagai penjaga batas simbolik sekaligus gatekeeper dalam skena. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan tipe penelitian etnografi yang dikumpulkan melalui bservasi, wawancara, serta focus grup discussion. Analisis dilakukan dengan mereduksi, menyajikan, dan menarik kesimpulan data dalam memahami penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan identitas skena Britpop di Bandung terbentuk melalui pengalaman musik, interaksi sosial, dan konsumsi budaya populer yang membentuk selera serta gaya hidup para pemudanya, dengan komunitas sebagai ruang pertukaran modal kultural. Namun, kemunculan polisi skena sebagai bentuk gatekeeping justru menciptakan kuasa simbolik yang eksklusif dan menghambat keterbukaan komunitas. Secara keseluruhan, musik Britpop berfungsi sebagai ruang negosiasi identitas, sementara fenomena polisi skena memperlihatkan dampak negatif kekuasaan simbolik dalam budaya populer. ENGLISH: Britpop has become one of the genres widely appreciated for its distinctiveness as a form of British cultural expression, attracting many listeners and shaping a unique music scene. Recently, a phenomenon known as “skena police” has emerged and stirred attention within the music scene in Bandung. This study focuses on examining how identity is constructed and exploring how skena police are perceived by young people in the Britpop scene, while also addressing gaps in previous research. This study aims to understand how the experiences of Britpop music listeners shape the social identity of youths in the Britpop scene in Bandung. In addition, it analyzes how skena police are viewed as a form of gatekeeping within the Britpop community in the city. This framework explains the assumption of the emergence of scene police within the Britpop community, which begins with the formation of identity through habitus and capital associated with Britpop. The Britpop community, as a social realm where interactions take place, can demonstrate this dynamic. The emergence of scene police as actors who carry out social control functions by assessing, classifying, and determining who is considered authentic and who is labeled as a poser, thus acting as symbolic boundary guardians and gatekeepers within the scene. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, using observations, interviews, and focus group discussions as data collection techniques. Data were analyzed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing to understand the phenomenon. The result show that the Britpop scene identity in Bandung is formed through musical experiences, social interactions, and the consumption of popular culture that shape the tastes and lifestyles of its youth, with the community functioning as a space for exchanging cultural capital. However, the emergence of skena police as a form of gatekeeping creates symbolic power that reinforces exclusivity and limits the community’s openness. Overall, Britpop serves as a space for identity negotiation, while the skena police phenomenon highlights the negative impact of symbolic power within popular culture
