Abstract
INDONESIA: Earthenware adalah istilah dari keramik yang berbahan dasar tanah liat, kaolin,kuarsa, dan feldspar. Jenis keramik tersebut memiliki kerapatan dan kekuatan yang tinggi dari gerabah dengan bunyinya yang lebih nyaring. Meskipun keramik termasuk bahan material yang cukup tua, kebutuhan akan keramik sangat meningkat baik sebagai bahan bangunan maupun sebagai kriya. Guna meningkatkan daya saing perlu dilakukan suatu inovasi seperti pemanfaatan bahan berbasis ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efisiensi penambahan sekam padi dan abu sekam padi terhadap bobot keramik earthenware.Selain itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis sifat fisis dan mekanis dari penambahan bahan alam tersebut. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa,komposisi terbaik yaitu pada penambahan abu sekam padi yang dapat meningkatkan sifat fisis dan mekanis dari keramik earthenware. Hasil analisis XRD yang diperoleh didominasi fasa mineral mullit dengan sistem kristal orthorhombic dengan grup ruang Pbam. Mineral mullit yang terbentuk memiliki rumus formula Al4,59Si1,41O9.7. Penambahan sekam padi dan abu sekam padi tidak memiliki perbedaan yang nyata pada kuat lentur. Namun, pada penambahan sekam padi menunjukkan susut bakar, susut kering, susut massa, dan penyerapan air yang lebih tinggi daripada penambahan abu sekam padi. Selain itu, pada penambahan sekam padi juga memiliki pengaruh untuk menurukan densitas terhadap keramik, sementara untuk penambahan abu sekam padi menaikkan nilai dari densitas. ENGLISH: Earthenware ceramics is the term for ceramics that are based on clay, kaolin, quartz, and feldspar. The type of the ceramic has the high density and strength of the pottery with a louder sound. The development of the ceramic industry in Indonesia from year to year is increasing. Although ceramics are quite old materials, the need for ceramics is greatly increasing both as building materials and as crafts. In order to increase competitiveness, it is necessary to carry out an innovation such as the use of environmentally friendly materials. This study aims to analyze the efficiency of adding rice husk and rice husk ash to the weight of earthenware ceramics. In addition, this study aims to analyze the physical and mechanical properties of the addition of these natural materials. Concerning the manufacture of stoneware ceramics. The results obtained show that the best composition is the addition of rice husk ash which can improve the physical and mechanical properties of ceramics. The results of the XRD analysis indicates that the dominant mineral phase formed is mullite with an orthorhombic crystal system and space group a Pam space group. The formed mullite minerals have the formula Al4,59Si1,41O9,7. The addition of rice husk and rice husk ash did not show a significant difference in flexural strength. However, the addition of rice husk resulted in higher firing shrinkage, drying shrinkage, mass loss, and water absorption compared to the addition of rice husk ash. Moreover, the addition of rice husk reduced the density of the ceramic, whereas the addition of rice husk ash increased the density value.
