Abstract
In daily communication, speakers often convey meaning implicitly rather than explicitly, resulting in what is known as implicature. This study analyzes 25 data points, all of which contain conversational implicatures arising from intentional violations of Gricean maxims. Such phenomena frequently occur when the cooperative principle is deliberately violated to achieve specific communicative purposes. Therefore, thisstudy aimsto identify the types of implicature and analyze how violations of the cooperative principle generate implicature in the podcast interview. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a pragmatic approach based on Grice’stheory of implicature and the cooperative principle. The findings reveal that violations of the maxims of quantity, quality, relation, and manner produce variousimplicaturesthat enrich the meaning of the utterances. The implicatures identified in the data are grouped into five categories: avoidance, uncertainty, evaluation, identity, and emphasis. These violations are not intended to mislead, but they serve to convey implied meanings, maintain politeness, emphasize certain points, and create specific communicative effects. Thus, implicature plays a significant role in constructing contextual understanding and deeper meaning within the interview interaction.
