Abstract

ENGLISH: Digital technology-based chemistry education is still dominated by screen-based learning, which leads to sedentary learning patterns and thus limits students’ physical engagement in the learning process. This study aims to develop a motion-sensor-based “Chemistry Fitness” game on the topic of factors affecting reaction rates and to test its feasibility through expert validation and a limited pilot test. The study employed the Design-Based Research (DBR) method, which includes needs analysis, media design, validation and revision, and a limited pilot test. The developed media integrates motion sensors, a virtual laboratory, and submicroscopic visualizations of collision theory into game-based learning. Expert validation results showed an Aiken’s V value of 0.816–0.895 (valid category), while a limited pilot test involving 15 Chemistry Education students yielded an average user response rate of 93.8% (very good category). These results indicate that the “Chemistry Fitness” game is suitable for use as a chemistry learning medium that integrates physical activity with submicroscopic visualization. Further research is needed to test the medium’s effectiveness in improving conceptual understanding through experimental or quasi-experimental designs.
