Abstract

Skoliosis merupakan kondisi kelainan tulang belakang yang tidak hanya berdampak pada anak sebagai pasien, tetapi juga pada orang tua yang mendampinginya selama proses pengobatan. Berbagai tantangan yang muncul selama proses tersebut menuntut ayah untuk memiliki kemampuan resiliensi agar dapat tetap bertahan dan memberikan dukungan kepada anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami bagaimana ayah memaknai love dan hope sebagai sumber resiliensi dalam mendampingi anak dengan skoliosis. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus deskriptif dan eksplanatif. Subjek penelitian adalah seorang ayah yang memiliki anak dengan skoliosis dengan satu significant other sebagai informan pendukung. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa love dimaknai sebagai bentuk kasih sayang yang diwujudkan melalui kepedulian, tanggung jawab, rasa hormat, dan pemahaman terhadap kondisi anak. Hope dimaknai sebagai keyakinan dan harapan terhadap kesembuhan serta masa depan anak yang lebih baik. Love dan hope berperan sebagai sumber kekuatan yang membantu ayah mengelola berbagai tantangan, mempertahankan optimisme, serta tetap bertahan alam mendampingi anak selama proses pengobatan. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa love dan hope memiliki peran penting dalam membentuk dan memperkuat resiliensi ayah pasien skoliosis. Scoliosis is a spinal deformity that affects not only the children as patients but also the parents who accompany them throughout the treatment process. The various challenges that arise during the process require fathers to possess resilience in order to persevere and provide support to their children. This study aims to understand how fathers interpret love and hope as sources of resilience in supporting children with scoliosis. The method used in this study is qualitative method with a descriptive and explanatory case study approach. The research subject is a father of a child with scoliosis and one significant other serving as a supporting informant. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and observation. The results indicate that love is interpreted as a form of affection manifested through care, responsibility, respect, and understanding of the child’s condition. Hope is understood as a belief and expectation regarding the child’s recovery and future well-being. Love and hope serve as sources of strength that help the father overcome various challenges, maintain optimism, and remain resilient in supporting the child throughout the treatment process. The conclusion of this study indicates that love and hope play a crucial role in shaping and strengthening the resilience of fathers of children with scoliosis.
