Abstract

Morphology is related with correspondence between the form and term meaning of words. One of various morphological mechanisms such as compounding is word formation deals with the creation of new words. Compounding is a joining of two separate words to produce a single form. Related with statements of problem there are two research questions: 1) How are the stuctures of compound English words used in hotel terms 2) What kinds of compound words meaning are found in the hotel terms. The research used theory of McCArthy (2002) to analyze the structures of compound word and theory of Plag (2002) to analyze the kinds of compound word meaning. Other theories as well as other research related to this reserach. This reserach is purposed to describe and analyze the structures of English compound words and also to find out the kinds of compound words meaning in Hotel terms.The reseracher uses the qualitative descriptive research method in analyzing this research while the data collected is in the form of words rather than numbers and it is more corcerned with process. The method contains observation, identification, classification, and description of data. The data used in this reserch are the compound words in Hotel term in Asia Busindo Hotel. The researcher then analyzed and describing the data from hotel terms in Asia Busindo hotel. In this research, the result showed that there are 25 data of hotel terms in Asia Busindo hotel. There are eighthteen (18) compound nouns, five (5) compound verbs, and two (2) compound adjectives. The kinds of compound word meanings in Hotel terms are thirteen (13) endocentric compound and twelve (12) exocentric compounds. Based on the findings above, it can be concluded that the categories of compound word mostly found is compound noun (18 data). Mostly, the kinds of compound word meanings were dominated by endocentric compound (13data). In additon in hotel terms were rarely found the copulative compounds meanings.
