Abstract
Speaking is an essential skill in English language learning; however, many students still struggle with fluency and vocabulary. While previous studies have mainly examined speaking performance in general, this study specifically investigated the effectiveness of the Gallery Walk technique in fostering both students’ fluency and vocabulary in English speaking. This research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The participants were 27 eleventh-grade students of MA Assalam Daarul Faizah Sukabumi in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through speaking tests and analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test, and the Normalized Gain (N-Gain) analysis. The findings revealed significant differences between the pre-test and post-test scores in fluency, vocabulary, and overall speaking performance (p < 0.05). The N-Gain analysis also indicated a moderate improvement in students’ speaking performance.In conclusion, the Gallery Walk technique effectively improved students’ fluency and vocabulary in English speaking. Therefore, English teachers are encouraged to implement this technique to create more interactive and student-centered speaking activities.
