Abstract

These days, the economy and money is the most powerful media to gain power. One obvious fact is more clearly visible boundary between the rich and the poor, who then called social class. Capitalism ideology which portrayed a conflict and struggle between Capitol classes throughout the district who want to follow the rules made by the Capitol itself with a view to having full power to make researchers interested in raising the concept of social struggle as the implications of the ideology of capitalism. This study uses the Qualitative Data Analysis. Researchers theory of reference is the book by Terry Eagleton (1976), namely Marxism and Literary Criticism, which is a major source of research by aligning theory in it with the contents of the novel as a research object. The purpose of writing this thesis was the first to describe how to use the elements of fiction which consists of character and characterization to show the problems of Marxism that is in the novel. The second purpose is to explain how the Marxist is applied in the form of social struggles of the lower class. And the third goal is to explain how the forms of social struggle in the novel. While the function of this thesis is divided into three. The first function is to help the reader understand the storyline and its relation to Marxism with the use of techniques of literary novels. The second is to help readers expand their horizons about the works and theories of Marxism. The third function is to inspire readers to do research related to Marxism. Finally, the researchers found that there are at least seventeen data showing social struggle by the community District in the novel "The Hunger Games" Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. The first analysis of the thesis that social class: Radical egalitarianism, Historical Possibility and Anti-Capitalism. The second analysis is a form of social struggle in this novel is a rebellion against the Capitol to get a justice in the country of Panem. This social struggle led by Katnis as the voice of the struggle called Mockingjay.. The study recommends to other researchers interested in the topic in this work, to discuss other matters of this novel by using the theory of Marxist literary criticism. iii Di zaman ini, ekonomi dan uang adalah media paling kuat untuk mendapatkan kekuasaan. Salah satu fakta yang jelas terlihat adalah semakin jelasnya batas antara yang kaya dan miskin, yang kemudian disebut kelas sosial. Ideologi Kapitalisme yang tergambarkan adanya pertentangan dan perjuangan kelas-kelas antara Capitol yang ingin seluruh distrik mengikuti peraturan yang dibuat oleh Capitol itu sendiri dengan maksud untuk memiliki kekuasaan sepenuhnya membuat peneliti tertarik untuk mengangkat konsep perjuangan sosial sebagai implikasi dari ideologi kapitalisme. Penelitian ini menggunakan Analisis Data Kualitatif. Acuan teori peneliti adalah buku karya Terry Eagleton (1976) yaitu Marxism and Literary Criticism, yang merupakan sumber utama penelitian dengan menyelaraskan teori didalamnya dengan isi dari novel sebagai objek penelitian. Tujuan dari penulisan skripsi ini yang pertama adalah untuk menggambarkan bagaimana penggunaan unsur-unsur fiksi yang terdiri dari tokoh dan penokohan untuk menunjukan permasalahan Marxisme yang ada di dalam novel tersebut. Tujuan kedua adalah untuk menjelaskan bagaimana Marxist diaplikasikan dalam bentuk perjuangan sosial masyarakat kelas bawah. Dan tujuan yang ketiga adalah untuk menjelaskan bagaimana bentuk perjuangan sosial dalam novel. Sedangkan fungsi dari penulisan ini dibagi menjadi tiga. Fungsi pertama adalah untuk membantu para pembaca memahami alur cerita dan kaitannya dengan Marxisme dengan penggunaan teknik sastra novel. Yang kedua adalah untuk membantu pembaca memperluas wawasan mereka tentang karya-karya dan teori Marxisme. Fungsi ketiga adalah menginspirasi pembaca untuk melakukan penelitian terkait Marxisme. Akhirnya peneliti menemukan bahwa terdapat sekurang-kurangnya tujuh belas data yang menunjukan perjuangan sosial yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat District dalam novel “The Hunger Games” Mockingjay karya Suzanne Collins. Analisis pertama yaitu mengenai tesis kelas sosial: Radical Egalitarianism, Historical Possibility dan Anti-Capitalism. Analisis kedua yaitu bentuk perjuangan sosial dalam novel ini yaitu pemberontakan terhadap Capitol untuk mendapatkan suatu keadilan di negeri Panem. Perjuangan sosial ini di pimpin oleh Katnis sebagai suara perjuangan yang disebut Mockingjay.. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan kepada peneliti lain yang tertarik dengan topic yang ada dalam karya ini, untuk membahas hal lain dari novel ini dengan menggunakan teori kritik sastra marxis. iv
