Abstract

ENGLISH: This research is aimed to find out the functions and meanings of social deixis in Inside Out movie script. The problems of this research are formulated into two research questions: what are the functions of social deixis used in “Inside Out” movie script and what are the meanings of those social deixis. This research is supported by the theory from Levinson (1983) about social deixis. This research applies the qualitative method by using documentation as the technique of collecting data based on Sugiyono (2012). The data are taken from the utterances in the conversation in Inside Out movie script that is created by Pete Docter (2015). The steps of data analysis include: (1) Identifying, (2) Analyzing, and (3) Concluding. The result of this research shows there are 2 kinds of functions and 2 kinds of meanings of social deixis in Inside Out movie script. Those are social identity and politeness as the function, then denotative and figurative as the meaning. There are 33 data found as social deixis. Those are 26 data for the funtion of social identity, and 7 data for the function of politeness. Then, there are 28 data for the meaning of denotative, and 5 data for the meaning of figurative. INDONESIA: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari fungsi-fungsi dan makna-makna deiksis sosial dalam naskah film Inside Out. Masalah penelitian ini dirumuskan menjadi dua pertanyaan penelitian: apa fungsi-fungsi deiksis sosial yang digunakan dalam naskah film Inside Out dan apa makna-makna dari deiksis sosial tersebut. Penelitian ini didukung oleh teori dari Levinson (1983) mengenai deiksis sosial. Penelitian ini mengaplikasikan metode kualitatif dengan menggunakan dokumentasi sebagai teknik pengumpulan data berdasarkan Sugiyono (2012). Data diambil dari tuturan-tuturan dalam percakapan dalam naskah film Inside Out yang ditulis oleh Pete Docter (2015). Langkah-langkah analisis data meliputi: (1) Mengidentifikasi, (2) Menganalisis, dan (3) Menyimpulkan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 2 jenis fungsi dan 2 jenis makna deiksis sosial dalam naskah film Inside Out. Terdapat fungsi identitas sosial dan fungsi kesantunan, kemudian terdapat makna denotatif dan makna figuratif. Terdapat 33 data yang termasuk deiksis sosial. Terdapat 26 data untuk fungsi identitas sosial dan 7 data untuk fungsi kesantunan. Kemudian, terdapat 28 data untuk makna denotatif dan 5 data untuk makna figuratif.
