Abstract
INDONESIA: Air merupakan salah satu kebutuhan pokok kehidupan manusia. Air merupakan pelarut penting yang memiliki kemampuan yang dapat melarutkan zat-zat kimia yang bersifat seperti garam-garam, gula, asam. Kandungan zat terlarut dalam air mempengaruhi sifat air tersebut. Dimana air yang banyak mengandung ion-ion kalsium dan magnesium dikenal sebagai air sadah. Air sadah dalam jumlah yang banyak dapat merugikan, baik bidang industri maupun rumah tangga. Untuk mengurangi kesadahan salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan adalah metode adsorpsi dengan adsorben bahan alam seperti lignin dari ampas tebu. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui proses adsorpsi ion Ca2+ dengan menggunakan adsorben lignin dari ampas tebu, dengan menggunakan variasi waktu kontak, pH dan konsentrasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pada variasi waktu kontak diperoleh efisiensi penyerapan 13,29%, pada variasi pH diperoleh efisiensi penyerapan 19,93%, dan pada variasi konsentrasi diperoleh efisiensi penyerapan 44,01%. ENGLISH: Water is the basic needs of human life. Water is an important solvent that has the ability to dissolve chemicals that are like salts, sugars, acids. The solute content in water affects the nature of the water. Where a lot of water contains calcium and magnesium ions known as hard water. Large amounts of hard water can be detrimental to both industrial and household fields. To reduce hardness one method that can be used is the adsorption method with adsorbent of natural materials such as lignin from bagasse. This study aims to determine the process of adsorption of Ca2+ ions using lignin adsorbent from bagasse, using variations in contact time, pH and concentration. The results showed that variations in contact time obtained absorption efficiency of 13.29%, with variations in pH obtained by absorption efficiency of 19.93%, and at variations in concentration obtained absorption efficiency of 44.01%.
