Abstract
The topic of this study is the use of daily-life vlog in English class to improve students’speaking. – an experimental study at the second grade of SMP Negeri 2 Cileunyi. The research purposes are formulated into (1) to know the students’ speaking skill before using vlog, (2) to know the students’ speaking skill after using vlog, and (3) to know effectiveness of using vlog to improve students’ speaking skill. The researcher used quantitative approach based on One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. The study involved second grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Cileunyi. The sample consists of 25 students as the experimental group. The experimental group was exposed to vlog of daily life in teaching-learning of speaking comprehension. The data were obtained by using pretest and posttest. The pretest was given before the treatment and the posttest was calculated using analytical statistics. The result of the data analysis shows that the average score of students’ speaking skill before using vlog of daily life is 63.4 which means low category. Next, the average score in the result of posttest by using vlog daily life is 76.6 which means high category. The result of calculating t-test is t count = 10.9 which is higher than t table = 1.5. In brief, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. It means there is a significant difference of students’ speaking skill by using vlog of daily life. Based on the result, it can be concluded that there was a significant effect of vlog of daily life on students’ speaking skill. It is very important for the teacher to consider that vlog can be used as an alternative media in teaching learning speaking.
