Abstract
INDONESIA Zeolit silikalit-1 telah disintesis dengan metode hidrotermal, menggunakan tetrapropilammonium bromida ( TPABr) sebagai templet. Karya ini bertujuan untuk mengisolasi silika dari rumput gajah, mengetahui karakteristik dan morfologi zeolit silikalit-1. Zeolit silikalit-1 disintesis dengan menggunakan metode hidrotermal pada 180 °C, dengan menggunakan silika hasil isolasi dari rumput gajah, air demineralisasi dan TPABr. Beberapa teknik seperti difraksi sinar X (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) dan FTIR digunakan untuk mengkarakterisasi struktur kerangka dan morfologi sampel. Zeolit silikalit-1 yang diperoleh dikonfirmasi dengan difraktogram sinar X. Hasil difraksi sinar X menunjukkan bahwa sampel yang disintesis memiliki puncak khas dari zeolit silikalit-1. Hasil karakterisasi menunjukan bahwa rumput gajah mengandung silika sebanyak 71,91%, dan dengan menggunakan sumber silika hasil isolasi dari rumput gajah dapat terbentuk zeolit silikalit-1 dengan kristal berbentuk heksagonal yang memiliki ukuran kristal 43,36 µm. ENGLISH Zeolite Silikalit-1 have been synthesized by hydrothermal method, using tetrapropylammonium bromide (TPABr) as template. This work aims to isolated silica from elephant grass and characterization structural and morphology of zeolite silikalit-1. The silikalit-1 zeolite was prepared by hydrothermal synthesis at 180 °C, using silica from elephant grass, demineralized water and TPABr. Several techniques like X ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and FTIR have been utilized to characterize the framework structure and morphology of the sample. Obtaining silikalit-1 zeolite could be confirmed by X ray diffratograms. The result X ray diffraction showed that the synthesized sample presented typical peaks of the silikalit-1 zeolite. The characterization results indicate that siliceous elephant grass as much as 71.91%, and by using a source of silica isolated from elephant grass can be formed zeolite silicalite-1 with a hexagonal shaped crystals which have a crystal size of 43.36 nm.
