Abstract

ENGLISH Healthy skin as a supporting aspect of a beauty. The role of nutrition and skin care should be done to prevent premature aging. One of the causes of premature aging is free radicals that can damage cells and fatty acid compounds in the cell membrane so that the skin loses its elasticity and wrinkles will be appears. Super red dragon fruit (Hylocereus costaricensis) peel contains antioxidant compounds that can counteract free radicals. The aims of this research is to obtain an antioxidant cream from the extract of super red dragon fruit peel with VCO as a penetration enhancer that has good quality and potential as an antidote to free radicals. The simplisia from super red dragon fruit peel was macerated using ethanol 95% for 3 days and got liquid extracts. And then the liquid was evaporated using rotary evaporator to obtained a thick extract. Formulation made by variation of the concentration extracts 0%, 0.1%, 0.3%, and 0.5%. This creams was evaluated include an homogenity, pH, stability, cycling test, viscosity, irritation test, and damping antioxidant activity with DPPH. The experiment produced four cream formulations which was quite stable in terms of color, odor, texture, pH and for irritation level is hardly irritate as well as having IC50 values of 121 ppm antioxidant activity.
