Abstract

ENGLISH : Mortality salience triggers everyone to implement adopted values (cultural worldview), such as religion in their lives. The goal, increases a significance (self-esteem) or meaningful feeling that someone has a clear meaning in life when living his/her life. The tarekat Qudusiyah has the teachings namely salik’s (suluk ways occupant) capable of embodying the concept of death in Islamic paradigm into the form of ‘turning off the ego’and living with a productive life, beneficial to the environment in accordance with the expertise each of them gives to him/her (life mission). The hypothesis is that mortalitiy salience has an effect on the meaning in life of the congregation of tarekat Qudusiyah. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a causal correlational design and the study participants numbered 87 people. The measurement instrument used was The Multidimensional Mortality Awareness Measure Model (MMAM-M) to measure the mortality salience and Source Meaning and Meaning in Life Questionnaire (SoMe-Q) to measure the meaning in life. The results showed that there was a significant effect of mortality salience towards meaning in life on the dimension of meaningfulness by 8% and crisis of meaning by 17%. INDONESIA: Mortality salience memicu setiap orang untuk mengimplementasikan nilai-nilai yang dianut (cultural worldview), seperti agama dalam kehidupannya. Tujuannya, meningkatkan signifikansi (self-esteem) atau sehingga individu memiliki meaning in life yang jelas. Tarekat Qudusiyah memiliki ajaran yaitu para salik (penempuh jalan suluk) mampu mengejawanthakan konsep kematian dalam ajaran Islam ke dalam bentuk ‘mematikan ego’dan menjalani hidup berdasarkan qudrah diri yang Allah tetapkan untuk memenuhi misi hidupnya. Hipotesisnya adalah mortality salience (arti-penting/kesadaran kematian) berefek pada meaning in life Jemaah tarekat Qudusiyah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan rancangan korelasional yang bersifat kausal dan partisipan penelitian ini berjumlah 87 orang. Instrumen pengukuran yang digunakan adalah The Multidimensional Mortality Awareness Measure-Model (MMAM-M) untuk mengukur mortality salience dan Source of Meaning and Meaning in Life Questionnaire (SoMe-Q) untuk mengukur meaning in life. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan mortality salience terhadap meaning in life pada dimensi meaningfulness sebesar 8% dan crisis of meaning sebesar 17%.
