Abstract

In this research, the writer analyzes R. J Palacio’s Wonder. The background of this research appears based in R. J Palacio’s writing models shows the representation of woman characters in her writing. That is related with her experience in the real life. Therefore, the research purposes three statements of problems about how R. J Palacio represents the representation of woman characters, their influence on the main character and moral value. The find out the problem, the writer uses some theories such as woman’s writing or gynocritics by Elaine Showalter, the representation by Stuart Hall, character and characterization by Abrams, how character is closed by Roberts, and moral value by Falmer and Nurgiyantoro. In addition, this research uses the qualitative method and critic feminism. As the result, this research gets two conclusions in this research. The first, Wonder is contains of some models of woman writing such as woman body, woman language, woman culture, and woman psyche. These models can show how R. J Palacio’s writing represents the representation of woman characters in her writing as an autonomous woman, a supporting woman, a caring woman, a humble woman and a polite woman. The second, from those the representation of woman character can influence the developing the main character becomes a brave character, a self-confident character and an amiable character. These can be seen by how the main character does much kindness and speak a good thing to another character. The last, there are two moral values based on point of view between children character and adult character in her writing. This moral value has the main purpose to influence many people to do kindness with the simple things.
