Abstract

This research discusses the analysis of declarative speech acts in Snow White and the Huntsman Movie. This research focuses on two main problems: (1) What type of declarative speech acts are used in Snow White and the Huntsman movie? (2) What effects of declarative speech acts for the hearer are found in Snow White and the Huntsman movie? Then, the researcher used Yule’s theory in explaining declarative speech act and the effect as the result of declarative. In doing this research, the researcher used the descriptive qualitative method. The data used in this research was taken from the Snow White and the Huntsman movie by Rupert Sanders’s film. The researcher found five types of declarative speech act in Snow White and the Huntsman movie there are information question, deciding, convincing, apologizing and prohibiting. Total of the data found are 41, consisting of 14 data for information question type of declarative speech act, 11 data for deciding type of declarative speech act, 8 data for convincing of declarative speech act, 5 data for apologizing type of declarative speech act and 3 data for prohibiting type of declarative speech act. The researcher also found the effects for the hearer in the analysis Snow White and the Huntsman movie. The effect was given by the hearer in every declarative speech acts such as the hearer showed the response in the utterance which are directly stated by the speaker. Then, the hearer also showed the effect in the form of action or expression given by the speaker.
