Abstract
Course in General Linguistic is one of the foremost book of linguistic theory that is published posthumously in 1916 by two of Saussure's student, Charles Bally and Albert Sechehaye which is dedicated for his their lecturer, this book represents a logical promise of language concept that those are cited from the Saussure lecturer note. In particular, all of Saussure's language concept constitutes some structural duality perspective i.e. structural language concepts cover cover langue and parole, synchronic and diachronic, form and substance, signifier (signifiant) and signified (signifie) and syntagmatic and paradigmatic. Therefore, this study concerns on the proof of Saussure's duality by language applying one of literary work i.e. Conrad Stonewords. Actually, all kinds of literary can be cited as the consideration, but Stonewords is elected a literary which is very simple to be applied. The statements of this research are: What is the application of Saussure's structural linguistics duality in the work of Conrad's Stonewords? How is the influence of Saussure's duality in structural linguistics after Saussure's period and by applying it in Conrad's Stonewords? Stonewords is mysterious story which arises evolutionary time to make some of he main characters are more lives. The procedure of this this study uses the structural method which works by finding logic relation of element in the subject of research in which to create the value or meaning relation. In reality, this scientific approach emphasizes powerfully on logic relation rather than the meaning or value, therefore the data analysis are developed by relating interdependently some of the data in either paradoxical or reciprocal to acquire structural logic relation. For the most part, this scientific course presupposes the work of Conrad's Stonewords which are equivalent to expand. In that case, this study finds that there are some duality elements in Conrad's Stonewords. From the work one can cite the structural logic relation which shows Saussure's duality in linguistic viewpoint. And in order to discover each element of Conrad's Stonewords which is able to be regarded as a coherent counterpart of Saussure's duality. For the concluding research, the emphasizing of this course is to acquire the structural logic sense in Saussure's language duality which can be analyzed by observing the coherent features of the passages from Conrad's Stonewords.
