Abstract

INDONESIA : Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menyelidiki dan mengidentifikasi karakter Four Horsemen berdasarkan deskripsi di Alkitab dan di dalam film X-Men Apocalypse. Penelitian ini berfokus pada tiga hal yaitu: menganalisis karakterisasi tiap karakter dari Four Horsemen, mencari faktor dari transformasi dan yang terakhir makna transformasi ikon dari tiap karakter yang ditunjukkan dalam film tersebut terhadap konsep Four Horsemen di film X-Men Apocalypse, sebagaimana yang di deskripsikan di pernyataan masalah. Setelah data dikumpulkan, peneliti menganalisis penelitian ini berdasarkan langkah-langkah yang telah di kemukakan oleh Ratna (2015), setelah di identifikasi, data akan dikategorikan, kemudian dianalisis dan juga dibandingkan dengan data lain, sehingga data satu per satu nampak terkait satu sama lain. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dalam skripsi ini, karakterisasi Four Horsemen sebagaimana ditulis dalam Alkitab jauh dari yang di bayangkan dibandingkan dengan yang ditunjukkan pada film tersebut. Peneliti menjelaskan bagaimana perbedaan masing-masing karakter, demikian juga kesamaan yang bisa diidentifikasi sebagai interpersonalitas karakter baik di Alkitab dan film. Banyak film yang mengambil adaptasi dari karakter Four Horsemen, namun di tampilkan dengan visualisasi yang berbeda. Perbedaan ini, mengeluarkan berbagai perspektif faktor-faktor yang membuat transformasi karakter, seperti faktor visual juga dari genre film tersebut. Untuk menganalisis permasalahan ini peneliti mengambil teori adaptasi film dari Ellestrom (2014), dan juga Pierce (2001) teori semiotika. Untuk poin terakhir, setiap karakter memiliki ikon yang identik, dari ikon tersebut di analisis menurut teori mitos Barthes (1991). Setelah peneliti mengidentifikasi ikon masing-masing karakter maka dianalisis dan mendeskripsikan penanda dan petanda dari setiap ikon. Lalu, di jajar pertama dari penanda dan petanda itu menghasilkan makna denotatif, maka hasil dari jajar kedua penanda dan petanda, itu menghasilkan makna konotatif dimana makna tersebut merupakan mitos. ENGLISH : The aim of this research is to investigate and identify the Four Horsemen characters based on Bible description and in the X-Men Apocalypse movie. This research focused on three points: Four Horsemen characterization, factors of transformation and, the means of the transformation icons of the characters shown in the movie toward the concept of Four Horsemen in Bible of the X-Men Apocalypse movie. After data collected, the researcher analyzed this research based on the steps Ratna (2015) after identified, then data will be categorized, and then will be analyzed and also compared with another data, to make the data one by one seems linked. On the basis of the results of this research, characterization of Four Horsemen as written in the Bible were far from expectation compared shown on the film. Researcher explained how the difference of each characters, and so were the similarities that could be identified the interpersonalities of biblical and film characters. Plenteous films which take the adaptation of the four horsemen characters, but appears with different visualizations. These differences, issue the perspective of factors that make the transformation of characters, such as visual aids factors also from the genre of the work. To analyzed this point researcher took from Ellestrom (2014) theory of film adaptation, and then Pierce (2001) theory of semiotics. For the last point, each character has an identical icon, from the icon in the analysis according to Barthes (1991) theory of myth, after researcher took the icon each characters then it analyzed from found the signifier and signified. From the first line of signifier and signified it result denotative meaning, then the result second line of signifier and signified, it result connotative meanings where was a myth.
