Abstract

INDONESIA Penelitian ini mengambil novel Minaret karya Leila Aboulela sebagai objek dalam penelitian. Terdapat dua pertanyaan pada penelitian ini yaitu: 1) Bagaimana latar belakang warna lokal di Aboulela Minaret? Dan 2) Bagaimana warna lokal digambarkan dalam novel? Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis latar belakang warna lokal dan menggambarkan aspek warna lokal yang ditemukan dalam novel Minaret. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori aspek warna lokal oleh Donna M. Campbell (2006) yang diterapkan untuk menidentifikasi aspek warna lokal yang digambarkan dalam novel tersebut. Metode yang peneliti gunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode deskriptif, agar data-data penelitian digambarkan dan dijelaskan secara deskriftif. Selain itu, peneliti menggunakan pendekatan penelitian berupa pendekatan mimesis menurut Abrams (1976), karena pendekatan tersebut merupakan suatu menautkan kesusastraan dengan kenyataan seperti yang terdapat dalam novel Minaret ini. Dalam mengumpulkan data penelitian peneliti membaginya menjadi tiga langkah yakni membaca secara keselutuhan isi cerita, memberi kode, dan menampilkan data yang telah dikumpulkan. Kemudian, peneliti menganalisis data dengan cara mengidentifikasi, mengkategorisasi, menganalisis data sekaligus menginterpretasi data dan menarik simpulan data. Dalam studi ini, peneliti menemukan terdapat empat jenis latar belakang warna lokal dan lima aspek warna lokal menurut teori Campbell dalam novel Minaret. Keempat latar belakang warna lokal di balik penulisan novel Minaret meliputi; latar belakang penulis, sejarah, dan budaya. Sementara itu, aspek warna lokal yang digambarkan dalam novel terdiri dari adat istiadat, latar, pakaian, tema dan karakter. ENGLISH This study takes the novel Minaret by Leila Aboulela as an object of research. There are two questions in this study, namely: 1) What is the background of local color in Aboulela Minaret? and 2) What local color described in the novel? The purpose of this study is to analyze the context of local colors and describe aspects of local colors found in the Minaret novel. The theory used in this study is the theory of aspects of local colors by Donna M. Campbell (2006), which is applied to identify issues of local colors depicted in the novel. The method that researchers use in research is descriptive. Thus that research data are described and explained descriptively. Besides, researchers use a research approach in the form of the mimesis approach, according to Abrams (1976), because that approach is a linking of literature to reality as contained in this Minaret novel. In collecting research data researchers divide it into three steps, namely reading the entire contents of the story, giving the code, and displaying data that collected. Then, the researcher analyzes the data by identifying, categorizing, analyzing the data as well as interpreting the data, and drawing conclusions. In this study, researchers found four types of local color backgrounds and five aspects of local color according to Campbell's theory in the Minaret novel. The four local color backgrounds behind the writing of the Minaret novel include; author's background, history, and culture. Meanwhile, aspects of the local colors depicted in the story consist of customs, settings, dress, themes, and characters.
