Abstract

ENGLISH: In this study, the researcher analyzed the drama script The Zoo Story by Edward Albee. The background of this research appears based on sexual deviations present in this drama. This also relates to the characters in this drama.Then this study has two problem statements about how sexual deviations are present in the drama script The Zoo Story through characters and plots in the drama. Then, about the consequences of sexual deviations experienced by the main characters in the drama.To conduct in analyzing this study, researchers used several supporting theories such as psychoanalysis, the extent of erotic symbolism, character and plot, and queer theory. Moreover, this study focuses on descriptive methods and psychoanalytic approaches.The researcher find out the conclusion as follows. First, in the main character, Jerry has convey that he experiences the level of the erotic symbol of sexual desire, which is divided into three objects, namely, body parts, inanimate objects and treatments or actions. Then, the influence of the plot here can show sexual deviations through the Freytag pyramid concept.The last, there are five consequences of the sexual deviations experienced by Jerry, the first being loneliness, then aggression, temperament, becoming a murderer and doing suicide. INDONESIA: Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menganalisis naskah drama The Zoo Story karya Edward Albee. Latar belakang dari penelitian ini muncul berdasarkan penyimpangan seksual yang hadir dalam drama ini. Hal ini pun berkaitan dengan tokoh yang ada pada drama ini. Kemudian penelitian ini memiliki dua rumusan masalah mengenai bagaimana penyimpangan seksual hadir dalam naskah drama The Zoo Story melalui karakter dan plot dalam drama. Lalu, tentang konsekuensi atas penyimpangan seksual yang dialami oleh karakter utama dalam drama tersebut. Untuk membantu dalam menganalisis penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan beberapa teori yang mendukung seperti psychoanalisis , the extent of erotic symbolism, character and plot, dan queer theory. Ditambah, penelitian ini memfokuskan kepada metode deskriptif dan pendekatan psikoanalisis. Sebagai kesimpulan penelitian sebagai berikut. Pertama, dalam karakter utama, Jerry telah memperlihatkan bahwa dia mengalami tingkatan dari simbol erotis hasrat seksual, yang mana simbol tersebut dibagi menjadi tiga objek yaitu , bagian tubuh, benda mati dan perlakuan atau tindakan. Kemudian, pengaruh plot disini dapat menunjukan penyimpangan seksual melalui konsep piramid plot Freytag.Terakhir, ada lima konsekuensi dari penyimpangan seksual yang dialami Jerry, yang pertama rasa kesepian, lalu agresif, tempramen, menjadi seorang pembunuh dan melalukan bunuh diri.
