Abstract

ENGLISH : Single mothers who feel deep sadness due to losing a partner not only have an impact on mental and physical health, but also interpersonal relationships. Single parents need to have intelligence in facing difficulties faced, a critical success factor in facing difficulties or obstacles one of which is the power of the person's business or commonly referred to as adversity quotient (AQ). This study aims to find out the picture of adversity quotient in mothers who are single parents. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological research design using interviews and observations. The research subjects consisted of two mothers who became single parents. The results of this study explain that mothers who are single parents have every aspect of adversity quotient. In the aspect of control, both subjects are able to control the problems or difficulties encountered when being a single parent and are able to control emotions so as not to experience stress conditions. In the aspect of origin and ownership, both subjects are able to find out the cause of them being single parents, responsible by improving themselves and working hard and being able to take lessons from the event, so that they can motivate themselves to fight for the role of single parent. In the aspect of reach, both subjects feel confident they can rise from adversity and are able to limit the problem so that it does not spread widely, such as always thinking positive. In the endurance aspect, both subjects have an optimistic nature and have hopes to be realized in the future. This can be seen from the two subjects who are still doing their usual activities both at home or at work. INDONESIA : Ibu tunggal yang merasakan kesedihan mendalam karena kehilangan pasangan tidak hanya berdampak pada kesehatan mental dan fisik, namun juga hubungan interpersonal. Orang tua tunggal perlu mempunyai kecerdasan dalam menghadapi kesulitan yang dihadapi, faktor penentu kesuksesan seseorang dalam menghadapi kesulitan atau hambatan salah satunya adalah daya usaha yang dimiliki orang itu atau biasa disebut dengan adversity quotient (AQ). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari tahu gambaran adversity quotient pada ibu yang menjadi orang tua tunggal. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan rancangan penelitian fenomenologi menggunakan wawancara dan observasi. Subjek penelitian berjumlah dua orang ibu yang menjadi orang tua tunggal. Hasil penelitian ini menerangkan bahwa ibu yang menjadi orang tua tunggal memiliki setiap aspek adversity quotient. Dalam aspek control, kedua subjek mampu mengendalikan masalah atau pun kesulitan yang dihadapi ketika menjadi orang tua tunggal serta mampu mengendalikan emosi agar tidak mengalami kondisi stress. Dalam aspek origin dan ownership, kedua subjek mampu mengetahui penyebab mereka menjadi orang tua tunggal, bertanggung jawab dengan memperbaiki diri dan bekerja keras serta mampu mengambil hikmah dari peristiwa tersebut, hingga dapat memotivasi diri mereka sendiri untuk berjuang menjalani peran sebagai orang tua tunggal. Dalam aspek reach, kedua subjek merasa yakin dapat bangkit dari keterpurukan dan mampu membatasi masalah agar tidak menyebar luas, seperti selalu berpikir positif. Dalam aspek endurance, kedua subjek memiliki sifat optimis dan memiliki harapan yang ingin diwujudkan di masa depan. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari kedua subjek yang masih melakukan aktivitas seperti biasanya baik dirumah ataupun di pekerjaannya. Kata Kunci : adversity quotient, ibu, orang tua tunggal
