Abstract

INDONESIA : Morfologi merupakan suatu kajian dalam linguistik berkenaan dengan struktur kata. Salah satu bidang dari morfologi yaitu proses morfologi. Proses ini merupakan pembentukan kata dengan menghubungkan satu morfem dengan morfem yang lain. Kemudian, skripsi ini membahas proses morfologi pada kata sifat bentuk superlatif dalam Bahasa Inggris dan Bahasa Sunda. Karena, kata sifat bentuk superlatif baik dalam Bahasa Inggris maupun dalam Bahasa Sunda memiliki pola-pola yang unik untuk dianalisis. Ada beberapa perbedaan dari bentuk kata sifat superlatif antara Bahasa Inggris dan Bahasa Sunda berdasarkan teori proses morfologi, di antaranya dalam Bahasa Inggris hanya menggunakan akhiran –est pada kata sifat yang memiliki satu suku kata dan beberapa kata sifat yang memiliki dua suku kata yang diakhiri huruf –y, -er, le- dan -ow, tetapi dalam Bahasa Sunda menggunakan awalan dan akhiran pang—na, lalu proses reduplikasi hanya ditemukan dalam Bahasa Sunda, selanjutnya mengenai aturan kata sifat bentuk superlatif yang beraturan dan tidak beraturan hanya digunakan dalam Bahasa Inggris tidak untuk Bahasa Sunda. Namun, persamaan kata sifat bentuk superlatif dalam Bahasa Inggris dan Sunda sangatlah sedikit. Salah satu persamaan tersebut dapat ditemukan dalam proses imbuhan yang berinfleksi, meskipun sebenarnya ada perbedaan dalam hal struktur. ENGLISH : Morphology is a branch of linguistics which concerns on the structure of words. One of the study field of morphology is morphological process. This is the process of word formation by connecting one morpheme to other morphemes. Then, this paper discusses the morphological process of superlative adjective in English and Sundanese. For this reason, the superlative adjective both in English and in Sundanese has a unique pattern to be analyzed. There are many differences of superlative adjective between English and Sundanese based on the morphological process theory such as superlative adjective in English uses only suffix –est for one-syllable adjectives and some two-syllable adjectives which is ended by –y, -er, -le, and –ow, but in Sundanese use prefix and suffix pang—na, then the process of reduplication is only found in Sundanese. Furthermore, the rule of regular and irregular superlative adjective is only applied by English not for Sundanese. However, the similarities of superlative adjective in English and Sundanese are extremely slight. Its similarity can be found through the process of inflectional affixes, although exactly they have the different structure.
