Abstract

ABSTRAK DH merupakan seorang laki-laki berusia 49 Tahun yang mendirikan Yayasan Mentari Hati dengan dilatarbelakangi oleh fenomena orang dengan skizofrenia yang saat ini masih mendapatkan pengucilan, penelantaran, dan stigma negatif di lingkungan masyarakat. Meski tidak memiliki pengetahuan khusus psikologi abnormal dan keluar dari pekerjaan sebelumnya, DH tetap merawat dan fokus merehabilitasi orang dengan skizofrenia yang secara khusus diambil langsung dari jalanan saja. Melalui metode deskripsi-analisis dengan pendekatan kualitatif, penelitian ini akan menggali lebih dalam mengenai karakteristik altruisme yang dimiliki oleh DH selaku pendiri Yayasan Mentari Hati. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa DH memiliki lima aspek karakteristik altruisme dalam dirinya, yaitu emphatic (sikap empati), social responsibility (tanggung jawab sosial), belief on a justice world (meyakini keadilan dunia), locus of control internal (kontrol diri secara internal), dan low of egosentris (ego yang rendah). Karakteristik tersebut tentu dipengaruhi oleh nilai-nilai yang dianutnya. DH mengutamakan orang lain dibanding dengan kepentingan pribadi, terbuka terhadap ilmu baru, selalu menolong dengan maksimal, mau bekerja sama dan mengajak orang-orang di sekitarnya untuk menjadi relawan di yayasan. Selain itu, memiliki bahasa pendekatan yang baik dengan cara door to door dan duduk bersama, serta bersosialisasi dengan rencana bersama keluarga, pengurus, dan masyarakat sekitar. adapun, setiap aspek memiliki kaitan antara satu aspek dengan aspek lainnya. ABSTRACT DH is a 49-year-old man who founded the Mentari Hati Foundation against the background of the phenomenon of people with schizophrenia who are currently still getting exclusion, neglect and negative stigma in the community. Although he does not have special knowledge of abnormal psychology and quit his previous job, DH continues to treat and focus on rehabilitating people with schizophrenia that are specifically taken directly from the streets. Through the description-analysis method with a qualitative approach, this research will dig deeper into the characteristics of altruism possessed by DH as the founder of the Mentari Hati Foundation. The results of this study indicate that DH has five aspects of altruism characteristics in itself, namely emphatic (empathy attitude), social responsibility (social responsibility), belief on a justice world (believes in world justice), internal locus of control (internal self-control) , and low of egocentric (low ego). These characteristics are certainly influenced by the values they hold. DH prioritizes others compared to personal interests, is open to new knowledge, always helps to the maximum, is willing to work together and invite people around him to become volunteers at the foundation.
