Abstract

Language can be divided into two forms, they are oral and written form. Two forms above are kinds or ways in reach the purpose. It means, people will choose one of that types that can be considered will give an effective way to convey a message. People in bilingual or multilingual communities can communicate two or more languages. they may also decide to mix a language to the another language, this phenomenon is known as code mixing. This research tries to explain what words are used as code mixing and what are the meaning of words are used as code mixing on instagram captions. In this research, the writer used descriptive qualitative research by analyzing the data resource. The writer used primary resource from caption which contains code mixing in instagram page. The writer takes the data from 1st June untill 30th June 2016. Based on the result of analysis, the writer has found 29 data of code mixing. The data found not only occurred in noun phrase, but also occurred in adjective phrase, noun, adjective, and verb. The majority of code mixing which using noun phrase there are fourteen data. Code mixing uses noun there are eleven data. Code mixing uses adjective there are two data. Finally, code mixing uses adjective phrase and verb only one data. According to the analysis, the writer can find some conclusions of the research. Firstly the writer find the meaning of code mixing secondly the meaning of words that used as code mixing show that every single word has its own meaning even thought the lexical word are combined into phrase or sentence. In this paper not all aspect of code mixing discussed and investigated. So generally, the writer hopes this paper useful for the other student and especially for the writer himself.
