Students need to able to listen to variety of things in a number of different ways. The effective media is needed to make students interest and easily get better in listening, such as audio, video that is relevant. Therefore, in this study the writer tries to find the alternative way to face the problem by using video materials to improve students’ listening comprehension. The aims of this research are: (1) to know the students’ listening comprehension before using video materials, (2) to find out the students’ listening comprehension after using video materials, and (3) to reveal the significance of the use of video materials to improve students’ listening comprehension. The method of this research is quasi-experimental and uses one group pretest post-test design. This research was conducted at SMP Bakti Nusantara 666. The total number of population is 633 students and this research took sample from class VIII-D with 33 students. The test included pre-test and post-test. The pre-test and post-test were the questions related to listening by using video. Statistical computation was used to analyze data. The result of data analysis shows that the average score of students’ listening comprehension before using video materials is 58.91, while the average score of students’ listening comprehension after using video materials is 73.92. The result of calculation t-test is tcount = 4.92 is bigger than ttable = 2.65. Therefore, Ha accepted and it means that there is significant difference of students’ listening comprehension after using video materials. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that the use of Video materials can improve students’ listening comprehension. Therefore, the use of video materials can be one of reliable teaching media in listening.
