Abstract

The aims of this research are to know the students’ writing ability before using PhotoFeedback method in classroom, to find out the students’ writing ability after using PhotoFeedback method in classroom and to reveal the significance of the use of PhotoFeedback method to improve students’ writing ability in classroom. The method of this research is quasi-experimental and uses one group pre-test post-test design. This research was conducted at SMPN 17 in Bandung. The total number of population was 397 students and this research took example of VIII B with 32 students. The test included pre-test and post-test. The pre-test and post-test of this research were to make description based on the theme provided by the researcher. Statistical computation was used to analyze data. The result of data analysis shows that the average score of students writing ability before using PhotoFeedback method is 73.21, while the average score of students writing ability after using PhotoFeedback method is 80.58. The result of computation of Wilcoxon test is by the result Zcount 4.79 is bigger than Ztable 1.64. Therefore, Ha is accepted and it means that there is significant difference of students’ writing ability after using the PhotoFeedback method. Based on the result of this research, it can be concluded that the use of PhotoFeedback method can improve students’ writing ability. It means that there is significant difference after using PhotoFeedback method. Therefore, the use of PhotoFeedback method can be one of the reliable methods to develop writing ability.
