Abstract
Reading becomes one of the important skills in English that must be acquired by the student in EFL learning. It is important for students to know and understand the message or information that want to be delivered by the writer in English text well. So, teachers have to know the best method, technique, and media to teach reading for students because it makes them not only interesting but also understanding reading EFL. Teachers can use ICT (Information, Communication, Technology) as a form of adjustment with technological advances at this time. One of the products of ICT that can be used as media to improve students’ reading skill is E-Module based Lectora Inspire. Therefore, this research was conducted in the school that has enough facilities to support the research. The research was conducted in MAN 1 Garut. The objective of this research is to know (1) students’ reading skill before using E-Module based Lectora Inspire, (2) students’ reading skill after using E-Module based Lectora Inspire, (3) the effectiveness of using E-Module based Lectora Inspire as media to improve students’ reading skill at eleventh grade of MAN 1 Garut. The approach used in this research was quantitative through the implementation of pre-experimental one group pre-test and post-test design. It means the researcher measures only one group for the pre-experimental class. A total number of populations of the eleventh grade were 356 students but the sample was chosen were 30 students. To get the data, pre-test and post-test were conducted. The test aimed to know the effectiveness of using E-Module based Lectora Inspire to improve students’ reading skill. The data was analysed by using statistical procedures. The result of the analysis showed that the mean of pre-test was low or under the minimum criterion standard (59) and the mean of post-test exceeds the minimum criterion standard (79). It means that the result of post-test of this class was better than pre-test. The statistical research showed that the level of significance of using E-Module based Lectora Inspire as media is in average level (0.33). It can be concluded that this media is effective to be used. So, teaching reading English by using E-Module based Lectora Inspire as media can improve students’ reading skill at the eleventh grade of MAN 1 Garut.
