Abstract
The development of language due to the use of Instagram is slowly changing the pattern of human communication that originally communicates verbally into written. Instagram as the media to communicate among its users produced several kind of language varies. The variety of the users’ background influenced the language variety that appears in Instagram. One of the varieties that often used on Instagram is colloquial variety. This research analyzes the processes of forming the colloquial words that used in written form in Disney’s Instagram caption by using theory of forming a word by George Yule. The research method used in this research is qualitative method. In the process of collecting the data, the researcher focus on choosing the potential words that can be included into colloquial expression by reading the caption of Disney’s instagram posts in the 1st January 2019 – 31st December 2019. As the conclusion, There are 34 colloquial expressions that used by Disney in the caption of the instagram account from the 1st January to 31st December 2019. All of the colloquial expressions are formed by five types of forming a word according to Yule. They are clipping, acronyms, suffix, compounding, and multiple processes. Four of the five types found are then divided into subtypes. The type that has no subtype is multiple processes.
