Abstract

The gender equality movement is present because of the awareness of women that the rights that should be obtained are appropriate as a human being but in reality things are far from expectations. The existence of this movement is of course for gender equality, but equality here does not mean in all respects. nor did the emergence of this movement arise because of women's gender desires to surpass male gender. however, the existence of this movement is with the aim of mutual respect and awareness that each gender, both male and female, realizes that both have their own privileges and there are always advantages and disadvantages and remembering that each other needs each other, given the human nature cannot live alone and the need to live side by side and in pairs. In conducting the research, the writer chose an animated film entitled "Zootoia" and focused on the main character named "Judy Hopps" who aggressively voiced the gender equality movement. As for the process of exploration and data analysis, because the author is also inseparable from linguistics as the focus of the majors that the author takes, the writer uses the denotative-connotative theory of Roland Barthes because the writer feels that this theory is still used in this research. Besides using the denotative-connotative theory of Roland Barthes, this research also uses descriptive analysis techniques in a qualitative form. Where is meant by a qualitative method is the writer in analyzing and presenting the data in the form of a quote.
