Abstract

In popular literature there is a usual pattern or formula to constructed its story to make the story follow the general taste of the reader and well-known only on its period. This thesis discusses formula and characteristic to find out the story pattern of popular literature as an entertainment work. In this study, the writer took interest to analyze romance formula in Annisa Nisfihani’s My Pre Wedding webtoon. The purpose of this research is: to find out how is romance formula constructed in My Pre Wedding webtoon story and what are the characteristic in My Pre Wedding webtoon by Annisa Nisfihani as a romance popular literature. The writer used theory of formula by Jhon G. Cawelti to analyzed the formula and its characteristic that constructed in My Pre Wedding webtoon, romance characteristics theory from Joyce G. Saricks and theory of digital comics (webtoon) by Mario Saraceni to understanding webtoon form. One of literary criticism’s objective approach is used as an approach and the data obtained is analyzed by structuralism. The romance formula in My Pre Wedding webtoon can be seen as a plot structure that is contains the development of romance for both hero and heroine. Romance formula and romance characteristics in Annisa Nisfihani’s My Pre Wedding webtoon follows the general taste of reader as a popular literature. Di dalam sastra populer terdapat pola yang sering dipakai atau sebuah rumus yang menyusun cerita untuk membuat cerita tersebut mengikuti selera pembaca dan populer pada masanya. Skripsi ini membahas tentang rumus dan karakteristik dalam sastra populer sebagai karya yang menghibur. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti tertarik untuk menganalisis cerita romansa terhadap webtoon My Pre Wedding karya Annisa Nisfihani. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan menemukan rumus cerita romansa dalam webtoon My Pre Wedding serta karakteristik romansa dalam webtoon karya Annisa Nisfihani sebagai sastra populer. Peneliti memakai teori utama tentang rumus cerita romansa dari Jhon.G. Cawelti, teori karakteristik cerita romansa dari Joyce G. Saricks serta teori tentang digital komik milik Mario Saraceni. Pendekatan objective sebagai bagian dari pendekatan kritik sastra digunakan dalam penelitian ini, dan data yang di peroleh dianalisis menggunakan structuralism. Rumus cerita romantis dan karakteristik cerita romantis dalam webtoon My Pre Wedding bisa di sebut sebagai struktur plot yang mengandung perkembangan romansa antara tokoh utama yang mengikuti selera para pembaca sebagai sastra populer.
