Abstract

Heavy metal contamination is a problem that threatens the environment and human life. Some heavy metals, one of which is lead, have a negative impact even at trace levels, so the levels must be known. However, the available measuring instruments have certain detection limits, therefore it is necessary to do preconcentration in order to increase the concentration of these trace metals. Solid phase extraction using hydroxyapatite can provide a solution for lead metal preconcentration because it is easy to synthesize, biodegradable, high extraction ability, and low cost. Hydroxyapatite was successfully synthesized using the precipitation method. Hydroxyapatite was characterized using XRD, XRF, and SEM so that it is known that hydroxyapatite has high crystallinity, Ca/P mol ratio is 1.63 due to calcium deficiency, and small particle size. Preconcentration of solid phase extraction was optimized using the batch method. Optimum hydroxyapatite performance with a mass of 0.1 grams and eluted using 10 mL of 0.75 M HCl to obtain a preconcentration factor of 7.5. Preconcentration with hydroxyapatite linear up to 5 mg/L with a correlation coefficient of 0.998. LOD and LOQ were 0.44 mg/L and 1.47 mg/L, respectively, % RSD 3.6%, and % recovery 96.61%.
