Abstract

In the 2018 Bandung City Pilkada, the low level of community participation was of course influenced by various factors. Political participation based on political awareness will encourage people to use their voting rights rationally and in accordance with people's aspirations. However, in reality, the level of voter participation in regional head elections is still low. The influence of political awareness on political participation in the Regional Head Election in Cibeunying Kidul District, Bandung City in 2018 aims to explain the condition of political awareness and political participation in the Cibeunying Kidul District Community and find out what percentage of influence political awareness has on political participation in Cibeunying Kidul District, Bandung City in the head election. Bandung City area in 2018. The research was carried out using a survey method carried out in the Cibeunying Kidul District Community, Bandung City. This research uses quantitative explanatory research using a random sampling technique. The results of this research show that, firstly, the political awareness of the people of Cibeunying Kidul District is low and the political participation of the people of Cibeunying Kidul District is quite low. Second, the influence of political awareness on the 2018 regional head election in Cibeunying Kidul District, Bandung City shows that there is an influence of political awareness indicators on political participation with an R Square value of 0.644, meaning 64.4% of the influence of the independent variable or political awareness (X) on participation. politics (Y). then the sig value of political awareness is 0.000, this value is below 0.05 so it can be concluded that Ha is accepted, which says that there is a significant influence of political awareness (X) of society on political participation (Y) in the 2018 regional elections in Cibeunying Kidul District, Bandung City
