Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic has influenced education, including the mode of the online classroom and the use of appropriate media which aims to manage the lesson and convey material. Learning Management System (LMS) is the application or the website to deliver the course, acquire knowledge, and control learning (Nguyen, 2020). The use of LMS in the learning process can help the learning process between teachers and students. This study aims to explore students’ engagement in critical reading class and to find out students satisfaction on the use of Schoology in critical reading class. This study was conducted under the qualitative method. The reserch design for this study is the case study. A case study is used to explain the results of observations regarding student engagement in critical reading classes through schoology which consist of three meetings and the questionnaire and interview to determine student satisfaction in using schoology. The results of the observations show that there is student engagement in critical reading class between students and students, students and lecturers, and students and materials. The result of the questionnaire show that 25 out of 39 students were satisfied using Schoology in critical reading class because it is easy to use, it asier for students to interact with other students, lecturers, and easy to access materials. Interview data shows more information about the reasons for student satisfaction in using Schoology. Students find it easy to interact with other students because in Schoology the critical reading class has provided a discussion board feature and a comment column that helps students interact with each other. There are also students who are dissatisfied with using Schoology in critical reading classes because Schoology often has errors when opened using a cellphone and has difficulty getting a direct response from the lecturer so that many student questions in the comments column are unanswered by the lecturer.
