Abstract

K.H. Abdullah Syafi’i merupakan Ulama berpengaruh dari Betawi. Sejak muda beliau telah banyak belajar ilmu agama dengan tekun dan didorong oleh ketekunannya pula K.H. Abdullah Syafi’i banyak berkontribusi untuk masyarakat Betawi. Kiprah dakwahnya dimulai dengan membuka pengajian di rumahnya pada umur 17 tahun. Selanjutnya, beliau juga banyak mendirikan lembaga pendidikan formal maupun lembaga pendidikan Pesantren. Beliau juga mempunyai hubungan baik kepada banyak pihak, termasuk kepada Pemerintahan, kepada sesama ulama, kepada murid-muridnya, dan seluruh lapisan masyarakat. Penelitian dengan judul “Perjuangan K.H. Abdullah Syafi’i dalam Dakwah Islam untuk Masyarakat Betawi di Jakarta tahun 1927-1985” memiliki rumusan masalah seperti bagaimana biografi K.H. Abdullah Syafi’i dan Perjuangan K.H. Abdullah Syafi’i dalam Dakwahnya di Betawi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan merupakan metode sejarah yang meliputi empat tahapan yaitu, Heuristik, Kritik, Interpretasi, dan Historiografi. Tekhnik pengumpulan data yang digunakan berupa wawancara, langsung bersama Narasumber, studi kepustakaan, dan studi dokumentasi. Adapun sumber-sumber primer yang didapatkan berasal dari wawancara dengan anak dan cucu K.H. Abdullah Syafi’i. Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan dapat disimpulkan sebagai berikut: Pertama, K.H. Abdullah Syafi’i yang dilahirkan pada 10 Agustus 1910 ini merupakan seorang ulama yang kharismatik dari Betawi. Beliau merupakan seorang ulama yang gigih, pemberani, ikhlas, dan tak jemu dalam berdakwah. Beliau sangat tegas dalam menegakkan amar ma’ruf nahi munkar. Kedua, dunia pendidikan pun menyatu dalam diri K.H. Abdullah Syafi’i. Melalui perguruan islam yang didirikannya, beliau berusaha memberikan pendidikan agama semaksimal mungkin kepada para santri. Tak heran, jika sebagian santri yang diasuhnya puluhan tahun kemudian menjadi ulama terkenal. KH Abdullah Syafi'i is an influential Ulama from Betawi. Since he was young, he has studied religion diligently and is encouraged by his perseverance, KH Abdullah Syafi'i has contributed a lot to the Betawi community. His da'wah began by opening a recitation at his home at the age of 17. Furthermore, he also established many formal educational institutions and Islamic boarding schools. He also has good relations with many parties, including the Government, his fellow scholars, his students, and all levels of society. The research entitled "The Struggle of KH Abdullah Syafi'i in Islamic Da'wah for the Betawi Community in Jakarta in 1927-1985" has a problem formulation such as how the biography of KH Abdullah Syafi'i and the Struggle of KH Abdullah Syafi'i in his Da'wah in Betawi. The research method used is a historical method which includes four stages, namely, Heuristics, Criticism, Interpretation, and Historiography. Data collection techniques used in the form of interviews, directly with resource persons, literature studies, and documentation studies. The primary sources obtained came from interviews with the children and grandchildren of KH Abdullah Syafi'i.Based on the research conducted, it can be concluded as follows: First, KH Abdullah Syafi'i who was born on August 10, 1910 is a charismatic cleric from Betawi. He is a scholar who is persistent, brave, sincere, and never gets tired of preaching. He is very firm in upholding the commandments of ma'ruf nahi munkar. Second, the world of education is also integrated in KH Abdullah Syafi'i. Through the Islamic college he founded, he tried to provide religious education as much as possible to the students. No wonder, if some of the students who he cared for decades later became famous scholars.
