Abstract

Palinologi merupakam salah satu cara untuk mengetahui vegetasi tanaman, lingkungan, dan iklim di masa lalu. Serbuk sari yang terkubur dalam tanah selama ribuan hingga jutaan tahun akibat terbawa oleh angin dan serangga dapat mengalami sedimentasi hingga membentuk fosil. Pada proses tersebut serbuk sari akan tertutup oleh mineral-mineral dan material organik dalam tanah. Adanya pelapis eksin dan intin menyebabkan serbuk sari tetap dalam kondisi baik bahkan dalam keadaan anaerob dan tekanan yang tinggi. Untuk dapat menganalisis serbuk sari diperlukan preparasi guna mengikis mineral dan material organik yang menutupi serbuk sari. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan metode preparasi palinologi menjadi metode yang lebih murah dan efisien dengan menggunakan larutan kimia teknis. Larutan-larutan yang digunakan adalah KOH, HCl, dan HF teknis. Hasil dari analisis menunjukan bahwa serbuk sari yang dipreparasi menggunakan larutan teknis sama baiknya dengan serbuk sari yang menggunakan dipreparasi menggunakan larutan p.a. baik secara kuantitatif maupun kualitatif. Dari penelitian ini mengindikasikan bahwa adanya peluang preparasi palinologi menggunakan larutan teknis. ABSTRACT DEVELOPMENT OF PALINOLOGY PREPARATION METHOD ON ROCK SAMPLE Palinology is one way to know the vegetation of plants, environment, and climate in the past. Pollen buried in the ground for thousands to millions of years due to wind and insects can be sedimented to form fossils. In the process, the pollen will be covered by minerals and organic material in the soil. Exterior and intinal coatings cause pollen to remain in good condition even in anaerobic conditions and high pressure. To be able to analyze the pollen is necessary preparation to erode minerals and organic material that covers pollen. The purpose of this study was to develop a method of preparation of palinology into a cheaper and efficient method by using a technical solution. Technical solutions that used are KOH, HCl, and HF. The results of the analysis show that the pollen prepared by using a technical solution is as good as the pollen prepared by using a p.a. solution both quantitatively and qualitatively. This study indicates that there is a possibility of preparation of palinology using a technical solution.
