Abstract

God has given love to every human. But sometimes love makes some people crazy and blind if they do not use their common sense correctly. Some people can do anything for love and it usually happens to people who experience a delirious love. When they have to obey a tradition that makes them cannot get married, possibly they will try to break the tradition. In Pakistan, there is one of Islamic traditions that makes woman cannot get married, named Shahzadi Ibadat. The first daughter becomes victim from this tradition; she must marry to the holy Quran. From the identification above rises two research questions; 1) What is the impact of Shahzadi Ibadat tradition to the main character? 2) How Zarri Bano’s inner conflict in relation to her delirious love? In this research, the writer takes literary criticism as a design with mimetic approach and Psychoanalysis as Grand Theory. The researcher uses Psychoanalysis theory from Sigmund Freud that analyzes how the Id, Ego and Superego of the main character in the novel. In this research, the writer found the impacts of Shahzadi Ibadat tradition. 1). She cannot get married. 2) She must marry to the holy Quran. 3) She must wear burqa. 4) She must become a holy woman. Actually, she cannot undergo the tradition because she experiences delirious love to her beloved man, because of it, she want marry to her beloved man but she cannot break the tradition, so she experiences inner conflict. When she tries to break the tradition to defend her delirious love to beloved man, her Id defeats the superego and her Id is more dominant than the superego but when she experiences inner conflict, she hides her Id in order not to seem weak, so her superego can pressure her Id and her superego is more dominant than her Id. I conclude that actually the Shahzadi Ibadat tradition has positive and negative impacts but this tradition has many contradictory to Islam, whereas this tradition is one of Islamic tradition that still used in Pakistan until this modern era by certain people, so delirious love tries to go against the tradition.
